When Depression or Anxiety Starts to Interfere

Depression and anxiety can look different from person to person. For some, it feels like a heavy weight, loss of interest, or difficulty getting through the day. For others, it shows up as constant worry, restlessness, or trouble relaxing even when things are “fine” on paper.

You might notice changes in sleep, appetite, concentration, energy, or motivation. Relationships or work may start to feel harder. If symptoms are lasting for weeks or keep returning, it can be a sign that professional support could help.

Common Signs We Help With

  • Feeling down, empty, or hopeless most days
  • Loss of interest in activities you used to enjoy
  • Persistent worry, racing thoughts, or panic
  • Changes in sleep, appetite, or energy
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
  • Feeling “on edge” or overwhelmed by day-to-day stress

If you are having thoughts of harming yourself or others, please call 988 or 911 before using our referral form.

How We Treat Depression & Anxiety

Treatment is individualized. Your provider will work with you to understand your history, current symptoms, and goals, then recommend options that may include therapy, medication, or a combination of approaches.

Comprehensive Evaluation

Each new patient receives a thorough psychiatric evaluation. Together we explore mood, anxiety, sleep, medical history, and previous treatments to understand the full picture before recommending a plan.

Medication Management

For some people, medications can reduce symptoms of depression or anxiety and help other treatments work better. Our psychiatric nurse practitioners provide ongoing medication management with careful monitoring and collaboration.

Advanced Options for Treatment-Resistant Depression

When multiple medications and therapies have not provided enough relief, we may discuss options such as Deep TMS (BrainsWay) or Spravato® (esketamine) as part of a more comprehensive plan.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

  1. Initial conversation. You will have time to share what has been going on and what brought you in now.
  2. History and symptoms. We review your mental health history, medications, medical conditions, and current symptoms.
  3. Collaborative plan. Your provider will discuss options and work with you to create a plan that feels realistic and aligned with your goals.
  4. Next steps. You will leave with clear next steps for follow-up visits, therapy referrals, or other supports.

Care Rooted in Respect & Understanding

Many people worry they will be judged, rushed, or “just given a pill.” Our goal is different: to offer a space where you feel heard, to share clear information about your options, and to adjust treatment over time based on what actually helps.

It is completely okay if you are unsure about medications, therapy, or what you need. Showing up is the first step — we can explore the rest together.
