SPRAVATO® Treatment (Esketamine)

SPRAVATO® is an in-office nasal spray treatment option that may help adults whose depression has not improved enough with other medications. We focus on safety, monitoring, and clear communication every step of the way.

Difficult-to-treat depression
In-office, monitored care
Nasal spray treatment
  • Designed for adults whose depression has not responded well to other medications.
  • Given only in our office with careful monitoring after each dose.
  • Used along with an oral antidepressant and other supports, such as therapy.

Is SPRAVATO® treatment right for you?

SPRAVATO® is not a first step for depression. It may be considered when other medications have not provided enough relief and symptoms are still getting in the way of daily life.

Common reasons people explore SPRAVATO®

  • You have tried more than one antidepressant without enough improvement.
  • Your depression is still affecting work, school, relationships, or daily tasks.
  • You want to talk about additional options beyond changing or adding pills.
  • You are open to an in-office treatment that includes monitoring after each dose.

What to expect with SPRAVATO® treatment

We follow a structured process to review your history, confirm eligibility, and guide you through treatment sessions in a calm, monitored setting.

1

Intake and eligibility review

Your provider reviews your mental health history, past medications, medical conditions, and current symptoms to see whether SPRAVATO® is an appropriate option for you.

2

In-office treatment sessions

On treatment days, you self-administer SPRAVATO® nasal spray under provider supervision. You then rest in a comfortable space while we monitor your blood pressure, mood, and side effects.

3

Ongoing follow up and coordination

We check in regularly about how you are feeling, adjust your plan if needed, and coordinate with your therapist or primary care provider to support your overall care.

How SPRAVATO® treatment can help

For some adults with difficult-to-treat depression, SPRAVATO® may help reduce the intensity of symptoms so that daily life and other forms of care feel more manageable.

  • Support planning for the rest of your day after you leave

Frequently asked questions

It is normal to have questions about a newer treatment option. We are here to talk through them with you.

SPRAVATO® is typically used along with an oral antidepressant, not instead of it. Your provider will review your current medications and discuss a plan that is safe for you, which may include continuing, adjusting, or changing your existing prescription.
No. Because SPRAVATO® can affect alertness and thinking for several hours, you will need a trusted adult or ride service to take you home after each treatment. We talk through transportation and safety planning with you before starting.
SPRAVATO® is a specific prescription form of esketamine given as a nasal spray under a structured program in certified clinics. IV ketamine is a different formulation and delivery method. If you have questions about how these differ, we are happy to explain the options and what we offer at our practice.
